Investing In Care & SustainabilityĪt Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, patients are cared for in a healthy, sustainable environment that promotes healing. The annual economic impact is expected to be $2 billion. About 60% of these jobs will require just two years of college or a training certificate. Over time, the combination of a new teaching hospital and medical school on the campus of a major research university is expected to create 15,000 new jobs, not including construction jobs. This area is expected to attract research facilities, entrepreneurs and other innovators in the life sciences. The hospital will anchor a new healthcare innovation zone in downtown Austin. Physicians who want to practice the most advanced medicine will be drawn to Central Texas to care for patients, alleviating a regional shortage of doctors. In addition to working with Dell Medical School, Seton teams will collaborate with many of UT Austin’s colleges and departments, such as Nursing, Pharmacy and Engineering. Medical ResearchĪ primary focus of the hospital is the application of innovative medical processes and products that deliver person-centered care “at the bedside.” Seton physicians, nurses and other professionals will build upon a history of medical research with their UT Austin counterparts. The trauma center gives patients in 11 counties round-the-clock access to skilled trauma specialists, including reconstructive plastic surgeons.
